If, like me, you loved watching the Triathlon events at the Tokyo Olympics, particularly the team event won by the British quartet of Georgia Taylor-Brown, Jess Learmonth, Jonny Brownlee and Alex Yee, then you’ll enjoy the Super League!
I stumbled upon it flicking through the sport channels and watched a couple of the events, culminating in the final last weekend in Malibu.
For the uninitiated, Super League Triathlon comprised of 4 events this year in London, Munich, Jersey and Malibu, it’s a mixed men’s and women’s team event with the best triathletes in the world representing 5 teams.
The format comprises 3 stages of swim/bike/run at each event over much shorter distances than the Olympic race.
This year was a triumph for two of the gold medal winning British quartet, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee who came out on top individually.
The final event in Malibu had a spectacular ending, particularly in the men’s race with Alex Yee inching out Martin Van Riel on the line! You can watch that finish here https://lnkd.in/dv6v86uw
Having seen this year’s event, I’m really looking forward to next year, the format is exciting and has a few interesting twists in the rules. Congratulations to Super League Triathlon.
