2020 has been a year like no other in living memory, so could this next season, as we learn to live with this virus, throw up another massive twist?
We all remember that incredible season when Leicester City defied the odds to become Premier League champions with odds of 5000/1 being quoted. Well this year, as we approach kick off, you won’t get those odds about anyone, even West Brom who are just 1500/1.
But could Leeds, under the mercurial Marcelo Bielsa pull off another incredible shock in their first return to the top-flight since 2004? Paddy Power are offering the best odds of 225/1 for Leeds to win the Premier League this season, it is hugely unlikely, but I take them to get off to a flying start on Saturday evening by taking at least a point away from Anfield. At the moment you can get 10/1 with Betfair and Bet Victor on the away win and the draw is generally available at a juicy 11/2. The Champions looked a little jaded last week so I’m going for a score draw.
Here are all the latest odds for the Premier League outright win market
Here’s my take on some of the other clubs in this compressed season:
Manchester City – likely to turn the tables on Liverpool but will Aguero stay fit? Rubbish odds at 4/5
Liverpool – Didn’t look that good after lockdown and virtually no activity in the transfer market yet
Chelsea – Unbelievably big spenders in the market and could easily sneak a top 2 finish. They are 11/1 if you fancy them to win it
Arsenal – Could get top 4 and Aubameyang is the choice for leading goal scorer
Man Utd – Need to resolve the keeper situation and give Henderson the gloves, good fire power but that defence though….
Spurs – Interesting documentary, who knew that Dier was fluent in Portuguese and that Tanganga was such a lovely guy? Can’t see them in the top 4 though.
Wolves – No Euro baggage for them this season, but Doherty is a big miss
Leicester – will finish below Leeds!
Everton – James Rodriguez is an intriguing signing, but they still look average
Towards the bottom I can see Palace and West Brom struggling and not convinced that Brighton have the scoring options to stay up. If Mitrovic stays fit, Fulham may just survive.
As for the Championship, as usual my heart ruled the head and I’ve invested in Gary Rowett’s Millwall at 33/1!!
