14 reasons why you should use a specialist recruiter
July 20th, 2021
This blog is aimed at clients and candidates because an outstanding specialist recruiter will treat both parties the same.
1. They are aware of all the latest news in their specialism.
No nasty surprises when they talk with a client, they will know all the latest news
2. They completely understand the company’s business
Not just the news, but knowledge of how that business sits and operates within their industry
3. They will ensure they listen to and understand the aspirations of their candidates
Not everyone they approach will have the same goals, allowing the candidate to talk freely about themselves before mentioning the opportunity is the best way to build an understanding
4. They will communicate with both parties throughout the process
Wow! Communication is so simple but is often ignored. The specialist recruiter knows how vital it is to have those communication channels open at the client end, and will always want to keep their candidate fully informed even if there are delays
5. They won’t deal with dozens of clients
They can’t! If they are doing their job properly, it will be impossible to deal with unlimited numbers of companies
6. They will have a specialist network of contacts
Specialist recruitment agencies don’t rely on big out-of-date databases, the specialist recruiter will have an established network of contacts that will be happy to provide referrals
7. They love repeat business
Once they know how the recruitment mechanism works at a company, a specialist will be asked by the client to find the next key person
8. They will understand the company’s culture
Cultural fit is so important and by not recruiting people who will “fit in”, recruitment becomes an expensive exercise
9. They will often market a candidate they know will be the right fit
As I’ve mentioned, cultural fit is vital and sometimes the specialist recruiter will unearth a fantastic professional that must be put forward
10. They will look beyond the job description
It’s important to have a job description, but it’s even more important to know what the hiring manager really wants. Time spent discussing this is time well spent.
11. They will look behind the candidate’s cv
The cv is an historical document, it doesn’t always tell you what the person has achieved and what they are looking to do in their next career move. The relationship building with the candidate is crucial in finding out all this information
12. They don’t work to pointless KPIs
Certainly, at Recruitment Gamechangers we don’t. So many agencies still maintain this outdated and pathetic method of micro-management. A specialist won’t adhere to this practice.
13. They aren’t salespeople, they are relationship builders
Thankfully, the days of the pushy recruiter are all but over. Recruitment is an art based on networking, knowledge, and rapport building
14. They know that candidates rarely apply so they will go out and search!
It’s great to advertise all our roles, but we know that most of the ideal candidates aren’t actively looking, so the specialist recruiter will talk to an individual and then describe their opportunity to stimulate interest
I’ve been in the recruitment universe for a very long time, the industry has changed and is constantly evolving. We no longer have to wait for the postman to deliver cvs! Meeting candidates and clients online can and does work, but the biggest change is the move towards recruiters becoming specialists. At Recruitment Gamechangers, we are specialist recruiters within iGaming and sport, we are fanatical about our sectors and adhere to those 14 points listed above.
